Nice.

Make this a house song, you rarely find house songs of this quality on NG.
-I'd remove the glitchy hats in the intro. Leave out any percussion.
-at 0:14 I'd add a 4 by 4 kick.
-then a reverse cymbal at 0:26 and a reverb kick at 0:27-0:28-ish.
-Then a generic Kick Snare pattern, If you want I can send you a snare.
-And then lots of basses and melody in the shape of Zedd's stuff.
That's my input anyway.

mr-jazzman responds:

Thanks for your input man. I appreciate it, but remember that this is just a sketch lol. Mostly it's just here to show you some of the ideas that I've been playing with lately -- stuff that I'll be screwing around with during the production of my album. But, you've got some really good pointers here. I know that the snare isn't the greatest; I've been experimenting with different snare samples, and trust me, I've got more than enough samples to work with lol. I think that I've come close to perfecting the levels and compression on my drums, although some final tweaking is of course in order before I finalize my album. But, you bring up some really cool things that I'd like to experiment with in the future, so thank you very much for your input! =D

Pretty Sweet

SCTE3, Why do you have to mention an animal in every one of your reviews? ;P

And also, this sounds extremely professional, I like the way you worked with te percussion and the choice of percussion.

It's pretty good up until the bass and drums kicked in, I expected something waay better.

How would you feel if I helped you on this?
We could call it a collab :P

djInTheDark responds:

I would be happy to collab on it. Haven't done a collab in quite a while now, need to get back on the horse. Pm me and we'll work out the details. I've done a little work on it since I posted it, and I have seemed to make myself even MORE unclear in what direction I want to take it in. :P

Thanks for the review!

Very pleasant and soothing, this piece got me very calm, and imagining some farm or grassland, with the sun shining and the birds singing, quite an uplifting piece of music, If I do say so myself.
I listened to the whole song from beginning to end and it didn't get repetetive, no matter how much it looped, and looped. It's just one of those tracks you never get tired of listening to.
The piano and flute were beautiful, the combination brought forth heartfelt melodies, and space.
The introduction to 0:50-ish could use a little more work, rather than 4 notes with a crescendo but other than that, It's amazing.
Likr SeeD said, It has a lack of climax, but that's not a problem, lengthen it, please.

It really sets the scene you promoted in your title, It has that feeling of some Badass villain wrecking everywhere, and 1+ for the NES feel.
To tell you the truth I wasn't enjoying it very much up until the One minute mark, the sounds weren't very pleasing and the melodies were nothing too special, ut when the one minute mark hit I enjoyed it quite a bit =)

The thing that I like is that you managed to incorporate that sort of 'Modern' Feel with the NES, PS1 sorta feel, it really brings me back to some of the old games, my dad used to play with, that is :P
The transition into the 1:00 was very nice, it had that 80s feel :P

So the only bad things are that It wasn't very good until 1:00 and that it got quite repetetive, but the + is that it had nice effects and brought a nostalgic feel :)

Oembboe responds:

This was the first song where I actually composed the main melody before I composed the intro, and I will admit that I kind of cut corners on the intro and the melody brought by it. I was very satisfied with the main melody and the outro, however, and yes... the effects too. I used the drumkit that I did out of more necessity than anything (since my toolset is very limited at this point), but I seem to have accidentally blended the old into the new and I think I should really journey more into that theme.

Thank you for the constructive review. It means much :)

Wut?

Would you mind taking some time to explain to me why you didn't upload these tracks, they're so cool.
First off, I'm not much of a fan of the first one's genre per se, but that's just bias, besides it's still extremely good.
The second one, wow, very crunchy, if you eve submit it, call it 'Toast' :P
The third one was sweet two.
The fourth, now this is my kind of genre =D House! Nice work, Mega liking teh plucks.
5th, pretty sweet, soothing, ambient-y, kinda like slipkn- oh wait, nvm :P
Anyway, pretty sweet job, get uploading, quick =)

Rig responds:

Most of these were written for specific projects, so I can't upload them separately. The House one is free for uploading, though, so I'm gonna finish it and load it up. :D

Haha, Noice

Now Be Serious, you did get some inspiration for the synth-y sine thing from my song 'Masquerade, Right?
Now in all seriousness, the song is very nice, very ambient and suspenseful.
The Bass is awesome, My favourite one is the first bass in the bass sequence. I'm guessing, Sytrus?
The drums were very dubby, I like, the power in them shook my subwoofer :P.
And the strings were very nice, good job!
What I would owrk on though is the mastering, seems a little rough, dontcha think?

aliaspharow responds:

Lol i just realized that i never responded to this. All the basses were done using Massive actually :3. I agree that this still needs a good deal of mastering to make everything pop like its supposed to.

Dude!

Awesome, so crazy ** Loved it :P
And I have yet to recieve the album :P I advertised it didn't I? :P
No Probs anyway, Great Job mate =D

Returning a Review :)

Hey, this is Decibel, Reviewing your song on behalf of Raven-guard, since you asked for a review back :)

Ok, first of all, I've played the game and it has some quality music, and it was a good idea to remix something like this.
I'll split my review into PROS and CONS.

First, Cons

~To be honest, at most times it felt a bit empty, it could have used some pads, strings, chords, anything like that would be nice :)

~Second, the drums you used weren't very much to my liking, I'll tell you the truth, it sounds pretty mediocre. And Some instruments sound very familiar, FL Plucked perhaps. Or gross beat on one of the gates? :P

~Third, The song seems to be skipping from one track to antoher, I understand it's a remix of multiple songs and all, but you could have made some better transitions. I mean, I know it's 12 minutes and all, but it's too cluttered.

~Fourth, The sounds could be slighty clearer, work some more on the mastering :)

~Fifth, The notes sound slightly discordant at times, like at 05:30-ish and 9:45.

PROS :

~A Very original idea to remix game music like this, It's not everyday people find the patience to remix music like this, note by note.

~Second, The blend of instruments were very nice, I quite liked the mix of chiptune-ish instruments with hip-hop drums.

~Third, The mixing was cool, slightly mateurish because it could have used some more mixing to it, but overall very nice.

~Fourth, The introductory sounds were very cool and that snare fill was to my liking.

~Fifth, Very Retro, Game-y atmosphere you made here, twas quite awesome =)
OK, Five Pros and Five Cons, I'm giving this song an 8 and a Five.

I'm Sure Supersteph54 wil leave you another review, he likes doing that.

-And If you havent' already, put this song's link in the review request club and the audio advertisements thread, so you can get some more exposure.

SUMMARY - For a 12 mintue song, it ;s not all of what it was put up to be, could use some pads, strings, breaks and better percs, if you want, PM Me and I'll give you some ideas :)

ganon95 responds:

thanks for reviewing back :P i did in fact put this in the RRC and got a few reviews.

i do kind of see where you were going with the pads and stuff but there are quite a few sounds packed in already and adding more would make it sound a little too overwhelmed. but i will consider this for part 3 :) this song was actually quite difficult to remix, but i like BIT.TRIP so much i like doing it :D

im still working on my mastering skillz so its not entierly up to snuff with what it could be, but, practice makes perfect :)

the "plucked" sound you heard was sample the hold in sytrus altered to sound like a pluck and some other instruments added in with it. and yes that was gross beat, but it wasn't necessarily a gate as much as a solid note.

im still working on adding more depth to my music :P every attempt gets better

The Guy Below Me, lol?

Listen lilbitty6, if you're going to review something leave a clear description of what you like/don't like and don't just give a random 1 to someone without taking into account the amount of work taken into this. And I didn't understand why this supposedly 'sucked' becausse some parts of the song were bomb =D
